Ok, ok. I know i've been ignoring this space of late.
The much-awaited midterm break is here hence, the mounting tension of first round tests and 11th hour quizzes have been haunting me of late. Shoving that aside, my well-being is generally on the upside of things lately. As 'vacant' as my newfound comfort zone seems to be, it is actually a breeze living on this side of -as according to a certain lot- a socialite's hellhole. Maybe it's the reluctant serenity, or maybe it's the accidental warmth and unwilling welcoming vibe. Then again, it could just be me. I found a space, now it's mine (and four other's), I'm making it home. I found...home?
Needless to say that the dorm days are a far cry from this. Not that I am a stranger to house chores, but now there's a different weight to it. Heavy on the outside, feather-light on the inside. Never has clearing the bin, sweeping the house, mopping the floor and even dust-clearing the mats reward such fulfillment. Am I enjoying myself here? Well, 'happily contented' would best be an epitome.
Hmm. I sound gravely monotonous am I?
Well on a bumpier note, I'm making an effort to reconcile the ties that's left unattended long ago. Texting old schoolmates, lifelong chums and slightly-estranged cousins could count as a decent first step. I'm planning on meeting them, have a drink or something as a next move. i think I've spend too much of my life looking for new friends and looking forward to exciting things that I left those who were there with me all this while, at bay. For what it's worth, forgive me.
As for the band, the Melaka job is pushed to the 17th of next month (or maybe cancelled, or there's another postponement). Something about the organizer having his finals on the initial date. But the downside of that is I can't spend my birthday with the family and Akta's playing their final show on the same day before calling it a break. Oh, we're opening for Adib's gig on the 10th at JamAsia (do come!!). Sharing stage again with Akta Angkasa. Wheeyuwhee.
Something's brewing in our minds since Azhar roped in Shah (commonly known as Mr. DJ to a certain someone. Heh) to fill in the empty slot that Syamil left. He's not our 5th member, not just yet I guess but yes he's hired for both shows. We only jammed once, and what he brought to the table then was somewhat a breath of fresh air to us. A window that we didn't have. He took up Azhar's effects duties like stealing candy from a baby. His KORG ElecTribe proved to be his secret weapon (the miniKorg was abandoned completely by us. Odd). We even slip in a drummachine break in one of the songs (to which my experience with FruityLoops became useful to set the BPM) which turned out well. With this new bent we're taking, the only thing I can tell is that this might be a make or break period for us. It may do wonders or just go straight-up bonkers.
So the nation turns 49 today. How was my Merdeka you say? It was 12 in the morning, stuck on a bus in Medan Gopeng with Potter & co. playing Murky Night on my iPitch!. How appropriate. The song, mind you. Not the setting.
Well holidays are here, here's to the holiday.
p/s: I'm starting a (yet another) side-project, Loopside. I'll let it out soon. No fun spilling the beans now : p
Bye.
